Spa is among Formula 1 drivers’ most loved tracks, with its mix of long straights and challenging fast corners allowing them to push their cars to the edge of their capabilities – if it’s dry, that is. The size of the track and the nature of Belgian weather means it can sometimes be raining on one part of the track and dry on another, meaning grip can vary from one corner to the next. Keep an eye on the thrilling Eau Rouge, arguably the most famous sequence of corners in the world, as the drivers flick left, right and then up the hill through Raidillon.

With the new aero settings on F1 22, we are recommending 11-10 wing angles for the Belgium setup. We found this kept the car fast down the straights, with just enough downforce to get us through the corners. If you are struggling with keeping the car in a straight line, (particularly at the start of the lap!) try increasing the both wings, but be aware you may find it harder to overtake.

Transmission Setup

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 80%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 55%

Transmission is a critical area of the setup for traction, affecting acceleration, grip, rotation, tyre wear, and drivability in F1 22. Increasing the On Throttle Differential will make the car more stable on acceleration, however, will increase tyre wear. Here in Belgium we will use a 80%/55% setup. This will aid rotation in lower speed corners and should help protect the tyres from excessive wear. Increasing rear diff will improve straight-line acceleration and stability on corner exits, however, will come with a slight cost on wear.

Suspension Geometry Setup

Front Camber – -2.60°

Rear Camber – -2.00°

Front Toe – 0.06°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

Geometry adjustments mainly impact grip and tire wear, however on F1 22, like its predecessor F1 2021, most circuits suit the same setup! Stick with a high front and a low rear setup in this section for best results in Belgium.

Suspension adjustments impact responsiveness and stability through corners in F1 22. This is probably the most important area of the setup, so if you are struggling with rotation then the anti-roll bars are where you should start. Ride height plays a much more important role this year, so keep the rear high to avoid the diffuser bottoming out at high speed. Floor damage can ruin performance, so a higher than usual ride height here should help protect those delicate aerodynamic surfaces. For the Belgium setup, a mid-firmness front and a soft rear is the proving quickest way. 

Brakes Setup

Brake Pressure – 95%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

For players on controller on F1 22, brake pressure adjustments can have minimal impact. If you use ABS, maintain 100% brake pressure. Otherwise, see above for the wheel + pedals setup.

Front Left Tyre Pressure – 23.2 psi

Rear Right Tyre Pressure – 22.5 psi

Rear Left Tyre Pressure – 22.5 psi

Tyre pressures can have a huge impact on wear and traction in F1 22. Typically high rear pressures and lower front pressures are the way to go, however increasing all pressures here will result in faster lap times. You will pay in wear, but if you are finding this not to be an issue then increase to around 24.5psi. The Belgium setup requires a balance, and with one of the longest laps on the calendar, you don’t want to be caught out with excessive wear!

USA Race Setup

The Circuit of the Americas is one of the most unique race tracks in the world. Located just outside of Austin, Texas, USA, COTA is characterized by its distinctive USA-style layout, with winding turns and long straightaways that give drivers plenty of room to maneuver and build up speed. The track itself is 3.4 miles long and has 20 turns in total, making it a challenge for any driver. Additionally, COTA has several strategically placed pits and pits around the perimeter of the track, which allows teams to react quickly to changes in performance or mechanical issues during a race. With these qualities combined, it’s clear why COTA has become one of the premiere venues for racing around the globe!

USA Aerodynamics Setup

For the USA setup, we are going with quite balanced aero. With the new aero settings, we recommend 24-32 wing angles for this part of the race setup. COTA is a fast-flowing circuit but has some tricky tight corners, so finding the best-balanced settings are needed here. 

Transmission Setup

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 60%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 55%

Transmission is a critical area of the setup for traction, affecting acceleration, grip, rotation, tyre wear, and drivability. Increasing the On Throttle Differential will make the car more stable on acceleration, however, will increase tyre wear. For the USA setup, we need to use 60%/56%. This will aid rotation in the long corners while keeping the car stable on worn tyres later in the stint. Increasing rear diff will improve straight-line acceleration and stability on corner exits (again, at the end of the stint on worn tyres this may be an challenge), however, will come with a slight cost on wear. This is the part of the setup that we found gets adjusted the most from session to session. The quickest setup is low values here, so try to avoid increasing this area.

Rear Camber – -1.00°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

Floor damage can ruin performance, so a higher-than-usual ride height here should help protect those delicate aerodynamic surfaces. Here we have gone for a firm front to increase front responsiveness, with a softer rear for grip. For the COTA setup, we are also using a low ride height. 

USA Brakes Setup

Brake Pressure – 100%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

For players on controller, brake pressure setups can have minimal impact. If you use ABS, maintain 100% brake pressure. Otherwise, see above.

USA Tyres Setup

Front Right Tyre Pressure – 23.2 psi

Front Left Tyre Pressure – 23.2 psi

Rear Right Tyre Pressure – 22.0 psi

Rear Left Tyre Pressure – 22.0 psi

Tyre pressures can have a huge impact on wear and traction. Typically high rear pressures and lower front pressures are the way to go, however increasing all pressures here will result in faster lap times. For COTA’s longer corners, we have gone with middle pressure values on all four corners. This will maximise the contact area of the tyre, giving the best medium-speed grip possible. 

USA Time Trial Setup

This is the fastest dry USA Setup for F1 22! This setup is not recommended for anything longer than a 5-lap race, as you will experience some high rates of tyre wear through the stint. We use this to top the time trial leaderboards and show off to our mates 😀

This is the fastest dry COTA Setup for F1 22! This setup is not recommended for anything longer than a 5-lap race, as you will experience some high rates of tyre wear through the stint. We use this to top the time trial leaderboards and show off to our mates 😀

For this area of the COTA setup, 50-35 wing angles have proved quickest. This gives the car good balance, but you will really need to nail the most optimal line to make it round quickly. 

Transmission Setup

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 50%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 50%

For the COTA setup transmission adjustments, 55%/50% is best. This means the car will rotate faster, balancing with the low area settings to allow you to move quickly through slower-speed corners. If you are spinning out, the first thing you should do is increase these settings. 

Suspension Geometry Setup

Front Camber – -2.50°

Rear Camber – -1.00°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

For the quickest COTA setup, you’ll want to push both of these settings to the max. We also recommend using ABS, this rarely has any effect on lap times in F1 22.

An extreme setup here for maximum speed. Very fast, but very hot! Don’t expect your tyres to last longer than a few laps with these settings.
