Aerodynamics Setup

Front Wing Aero – 24

Rear Wing Aero – 28

For Imola and with the new aero settings, we are recommending 24-28 wing angle setup. This is low enough to keep the car fast down the straights, with just enough downforce to get us through the corners. Our initial impression is that the cars in F1 22 seem to perform better than 2021 with lower aero settings. If you are struggling with grip, try increasing both values, but be aware you may find it harder to overtake.

Transmission Setup

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 65%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 59%

Transmission is a critical area of the setup for traction, affecting acceleration, grip, rotation, tyre wear, and drivability. Increasing the On Throttle Differential will make the car more stable on acceleration, however, will increase tyre wear. Here at Imola, we’ve went brave again and have had most success with a 65%/59% setup. This will aid rotation in lower speed corners and should help protect the tyres from excessive wear, however be cautious as one your tyres wear the car may be more likely to spin. If you don’t have masterful abilities without traction control, then try increasing the on throttle diff. This will improve straight-line stability and even acceleration on corner exits, however, will come with a slight cost on wear.

Front Camber – -2.50°

Rear Camber – -1.90°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

Geometry adjustments mainly impact grip and tire wear, however on F1 22, like F1 2021, most circuits suit the same setup! Stick with high front camber, and low everything else in this section for best results. We’ve knocked the rear camber up one notch from the lowest for Imola.

Suspension adjustments impact responsiveness and stability through corners. This is probably the most important area of the Imola setup, so if you are struggling with rotation then the anti-roll bars are where you should start. Ride height plays a much more important role this year, so the keep the rear high to avoid the diffuser bottoming out at high speed. Floor damage can ruin performance, so a higher than usual ride height here should help protect those delicate aerodynamic surfaces.

Brakes Setup

Brake Pressure – 100%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

For players on controller, brake pressure adjustments can have minimal impact. If you use ABS, maintain 100% brake pressure. Otherwise, see above for the Imola brake setup.

Tyres Setup

Front Right Tyre Pressure – 23.7 psi

Front Left Tyre Pressure – 23.7 psi

Rear Right Tyre Pressure – 22.2 psi

Rear Left Tyre Pressure – 22.2 psi

Tyre pressures can have a huge impact on wear and traction. Typically high rear pressures and lower front pressures are the way to go, however increasing rear pressures here could result in faster lap times. You will pay in wear, but if you are finding this not to be an issue then increase to around 22.7psi. For the Imola setup we are running a relatively high pressure setup, you might want to reduce the pressures by one or two notches if you struggle with excessive wear. 

Imola Hotlap Setup

This is the fastest F1 22 Imola Setup available, and will ensure you rise to the top of the time trial leaderboards. F1 2022 is still new, so check back here in the future for faster and faster setups. Generally this setup will be quick over one lap, so it’s ideal for time trial, or even qualifying, but be aware it is not designed to be run over a race distance, so don’t expect your tyres to last very long!

Imola Hotlap Setup

This is the fastest F1 22 Imola Setup available, and will ensure you rise to the top of the time trial leaderboards. F1 2022 is still new, so check back here in the future for faster and faster setups. Generally this setup will be quick over one lap, so it’s ideal for time trial, or even qualifying, but be aware it is not designed to be run over a race distance, so don’t expect your tyres to last very long!

Imola Suspension Setup

Front Wing Aero – 24

For the best time trial setup for Imola in F1 22, we are actually recommending the same aero as our standard race setup. Despite a few tweaks, this seems to always result in the fastest times. 24 at the front, 28 at the rear.  

Imola Transmission Setup

On Throttle Diff – 60%

Off Throttle Diff – 54%

A differential setup here similar to the race setup, but we have reduced the on throttle differential adjustment to 60%, and the off throttle to 54%. This makes the car easier to rotate, meaning you can accelerate faster out of corners once the car is straight. It will be slightly more challenging to handle, but much quicker round the Imola track. 

Imola Suspension Geometry Setup

Front Camber – -2.50°

Rear Camber – -1.00°

Front Toe – 0.05°

Rear Camber – 0.20°

Suspension adjustments impact responsiveness and stability through corners. F1 2022 is similar to F1 2021, and this section pf the setup has a similar impact. Imola is like most circuits in terms of geometry setup, right-right-left-left.

The Imola suspension setup is a bit more extreme than the race settings. A very firm front, with a lot of give at the rear. This allows the rear of the car to take high cornering loads, but makes the front very skittish. Our advice here is to avoid riding over kerbs, and accelerate as early as possible on the way out of corners.

Brake Pressure – 100%

Front Brake Bias – 50%

Maximum brake pressure here, but you can run ABS and not lose any time. 

Imola Tyre Pressure Setup

Front Right Tyre Pressure – 25.0psi

An extreme setup here for maximum speed at Imola. Very fast, but very hot! Don’t expect your tyres to last longer than a few laps with these settings.

The Singapore Grand Prix Circuit is one of the most unique in Formula One. It’s a street circuit that runs through the heart of Singapore, and it’s known for being extremely hot and humid. The Singapore Grand Prix is also the longest race on the Formula One calendar, and it’s held at night under floodlights. As a result, it’s important to have a car setup that can handle extreme conditions.

The fastest car setup for the Singapore Grand Prix Circuit begins with aero. The high temperatures and humidity mean that downforce is extremely important, so teams will want to run as much as possible. This will help the car to stick to the track and avoid sliding off in the corners. In addition, tire choice is critical. Pirelli typically use their softest tyre compounds in Singapore, as they offer good grip in warm conditions. Teams will also want to pay attention to brake cooling, as the long straights can lead to overheating. Finally, fuel management is always important in Formula One, but it’s especially crucial in Singapore. With such a long race, teams need to make sure they have enough fuel to last the entire distance.

Singapore Race Setup

Singapore is a unique track and as such, requires a unique car setup. The Singapore Grand Prix Circuit is famous for its twists and turns, making it essential to have a car that can handle the tight corners. In addition, Singapore is a hot and humid country, meaning that tires can overheat quickly. As a result, it is important to choose the right tire compound and to have good tire management. With these considerations in mind, here is the fastest f1-22 car setup for the Singapore Grand Prix Circuit:

The Singapore Grand Prix Circuit is a street circuit that consists of 23 turns. The circuit is 3.146 miles long and has a lap record of 1:48.574, set by Lewis Hamilton in 2017.

The best way to set up your car for the Singapore Grand Prix Circuit is to use a soft compound tire. This will help to improve grip while driving and will also prevent tires from overheating. In addition, it is important to have good tire management during the race. This means not pushing your tires too hard and making sure to pit for fresh tires when necessary. For Singapore, we are going with aero similar to the Monaco setup. With the new aero settings, we are recommending 47-45 wing angles for this part of the race setup. Singapore is a street circuit and has some tricky tight sections, so near maximum settings are needed here.

Differential Adjustment On Throttle – 56%

Differential Adjustment Off Throttle – 53%

Transmission is a critical area of the setup for traction, affecting acceleration, grip, rotation, tyre wear, and drivability. Increasing the On Throttle Differential will make the car more stable on acceleration, however, will increase tyre wear. For the Singapore setup, we need to use 56%/53%. This will aid rotation in the long corners while keeping the car stable on worn tyres later in the stint. Increasing rear diff will improve straight-line acceleration and stability on corner exits (again, at the end of the stint on worn tyres this may be an challenge), however, will come with a slight cost on wear. This is the part of the setup that we found gets adjusted the most from session to session. Lower is quicker here, so try to avoid increasing this values.

Floor damage can ruin performance, so a higher than usual ride height here should help protect those delicate aerodynamic surfaces. Here we have went for a soft front to increase front grip, with a firmer rear for responsiveness. Ride height is high so you can ride the kerbs!

Tyre pressures can have a huge impact on wear and traction. Typically high rear pressures and lower front pressures are the way to go, however decreasing all pressures here will result in faster lap times. For Singapore’s tight corners, we have gone with low pressures on all four corners. This will maximise the contact area of the tyre, giving the best low-speed grip possible. 

Singapore Time Trial Setup

This is the fastest dry Singapore Setup for F1 22! This setup is not recommended for anything longer than a 5-lap race, as you will experience some high rates of tyre wear through the stint. We use this to top the time trial leaderboards and show off to our mates 😀

For this area of the Singapore setup, 50-50 wing angles have proved quickest. This gives the car good balance, but you will really need to nail the most optimal line to make it round quickly.

For the quickest Singapore setup, you’ll want to push both of these settings to the max. We also recommend using ABS, this rarely has any effect on lap times in F1 22.

Building your own custom iRacing Gaming PC

Let’s start with the basics. You will need:

  • A CPU, this will be the brains behind the PC, run the programs and carry out all of the complex calculations. This part could cost you from around $100/£100 for a budget (brand new) option, up to around $400/£400 for a high end option. You could even go super budget and pick up used parts for even cheaper (we will discuss this later)
  • A GPU. The GPU is the Graphics Processing Unit, and will likely be the most expensive component of your build, and determines how well your visual experience will be. For sim focused racers, this is normally not the highest priority, but if you are planning on playing other titles, like Forza, F1 23, or even non-racing games (gasp!), then you may want to spend a little more here. For iRacing only, you can get some great budget pre-owned GPUs from around $150/£150, for general gaming some brand new entry-level GPUs from $350/£350, and the high-end GPUs could set you back over $1000/£1000, but should be capable for all games for years to come.
  • RAM. RAM, or memory as it is often referred to, helps your PC handle the large game assets, and is one of the easiest parts to upgrade as you go along. Around 32gb of RAM (approx $60/£60) is a good place to start, but if you are really on a budget, starting with just 16gb is also an option (approx $35/£35).
  • Other Parts: You will also need a motherboard, powersupply, and a case for your PC.

iRacing on a Laptop: A Seamless Experience?

Absolutely, you can embrace the thrills of iRacing on a laptop, provided it aligns with the game’s minimum or recommended specifications.

When assessing whether iRacing will perform on your current laptop or one you’re considering purchasing, scrutinizing the PC specs is crucial. For gaming laptops, meeting or exceeding the recommended specifications for iRacing is more crucial than ever. Upgradability is quite limited in laptops; most often, you’ll only be able to enhance the RAM. If the laptop falls short on other specs, you might have to search for a new contender.

Aim for a laptop boasting at least a 6-core i7 processor, coupled with a robust GPU—consider something in the ballpark of an RTX 3060 or better—and a minimum of 16GB of RAM for a start. Remember, in most laptops, the RAM might be the sole component you can upgrade down the line, so getting the GPU right from the get-go is pivotal.

For those on a budget, prioritize the GPU in your purchase, as this will significantly dictate your machine’s longevity and performance with iRacing and beyond.
